Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) used to make SimpliCycle have a low enough density that they rise to the top of a separation tank during the mechanical recycling process, along with polypropylene (PP) and polythene (PE). TPE, in contrast to silicone, may be recycled into the manufacturing stream by being melted and mixed with PP and PE to form feedstocks. This simplifies the process of recycling by eliminating the need to remove silicone from traditional valves prior to further processing.
